Ghana’s local national team, the Black Galaxies have progressed to the Quarterfinals of the 2022 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in Algeria.
The Black Galaxies secured a place in the round after dumping a 2-1 defeat they suffered to Madagascar in the first group game to beat Sudan 3-1 in the second group game.
Following Morocco’s withdrawal from the competition, the 3-1 win against Sudan ensured Ghana a place in the Quarterfinal. But which team could they face in the next round?
Ghana’s next opponent is largely dependent on the result of the final Group C game between Sudan and Madagascar which will take place on Monday, January 23. The result of the game will determine where Ghana will finish in the Group and who their next opponents would be.
Should Madagascar pick at least a point from the game, they’ll finish top of the Group and that will mean Ghana will finish second and will face the winners of Group E which could be between Cameroon and Niger who face off in the final group game on Tuesday, January 24.
Nevertheless, should Sudan win the game by any margin, it would mean they progress from the Group as second placed side behind Ghana. The situation would see the Black Galaxies face runners up in Group A Mozambique, a team they faced in their final friendly game ahead of the CHAN.
