Niger recorded a 2-0 win to kick Ghana out of the quarterfinals of the 2022 Championship of African Nations (CHAN).
The Black Galaxies had a good start to the game but nearly gave a goal away at the other end in the 6th minute. Goalkeeper Ibrabim Danlad pulled off a good save to deny a header from Solomon Adomako from hitting the net.
Five minutes later, Niger scored the first goal of the game. Konadu Yiadom unfortunately put the ball in his own net.
Ghana started to see more of the ball but failed to threaten the Niger goal as they went into the break a goal down.
Just four minutes into the second half, Niger against all odds struck the second of the game. Boubacar Hainikoye curled a beautiful shot from outside the box pass a helpless Ibrahim Danlad.
Coach Annor Walker made a number of changes with the hope of rescuing the situation but to no avail as the game ended 2-0.
The defeat ends Ghana’s campaign, while Niger progress to the semifinal to face Algeria. The other semifinal will see Senegal play Madagascar.
