2022/23 GPL: Ruthless Asante Kotoko breeze pass 10-man RTU, Aduana leave it late against Tamale City, Great Olympics end 7-game winless run: Gameweek 25 Results

Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win against Real Tamale United (RTU) at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors who headed into the game without a win in their last two games showed their intent from the blast of the whistle, but had to wait until the 36th minute before getting the opener.

Augustine Agyapong scored from a free-kick which came after goalkeeper Yaw Osei had handled the ball outside the box, a situation which also led to the goalkeeper getting sent off.

In the 48th minute, Asante Kotoko was awarded a spot-kick after Iddrisu Gadafi handled the ball in the box. Steven Mukwala stepped up and made no mistake from the spot-kick, 2-0.

The Porcupine Warriors continued to probe and made it 3-0 in the 64th minute, Steven Mukwala scored to grab his brace on the day and 10th goal of the season.

Asante Kotoko wrapped up the win with the fourth in additional time. Brazalian international Matheus De Souza tapped home from close range to get his first goal for the club.

League leaders Aduana returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win against Tamale City at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park. Isaac Mintah scored the only goal from a spot-kick in the final minutes of the game.

A first half penalty converted by Richard Berko was enough to earn Karela United a 1-0 win against Regional rivals Samartex at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) park.

In Accra, Great Olympics defeated Berekum Chelsea 2-1 to record their first win in 7 games and as well move out of the relegation zone. Yusif Abdul Razak scored for Olympics in the 41st and 47th minute, while Isaac Kwakye Osei got the face saving goal for Berekum Chelsea in the final minutes of the game.

Nsoatreman and Bechem United drew 1-1 at the Nana Kronmansah Park. Isaiah Nyarko opened the scoring for Bechem United in the 33rd minute, before Frederick Boateng scored at the start of the second half to make it 1-1.

A 93rd minute Andy Kumi Francis goal earned bottom placed Kotoku Royals a point at home against Medeama, 1-1. Jonathan Sowah scored Medeama’s goal in the 21st minute.

On Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium, King Faisal stunned Accra Lions, beating them 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Benjamin Bature in the 9th minute.

Hearts of Oak were left to rue missed chances as they were held to a scoreless draw by Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

The final game of the round will be played on Monday, Bibiani GoldStars will welcome Legon Cities to the Dun’s Park.
