Legon Cities and Asante Kotoko played out a 1-1 draw at the El-Wak Sports Complex.
Having lost their previous game 2-0 at home to Medeama, Asante Kotoko headed into the game hoping to bounce back to winning ways. The Porcupine Warriors were on course to doing so after just 15 minutes, going ahead through skipper Richard Boadu from a spot-kick.
Legon Cities after going down stepped up their performance and came close to leveling the score on some few occasions, but a combination of good defending and good goalkeeping from Fredrick Asare kept them at bay as the game went into the interval 1-0.
After the break, Legon Cities continued to chase the leveler but it was Asante Kotoko who had the first chance of the half, Goalkeeper Sylvester Sackey dived low to keep out an effort from Matheus De Souza.
In the 70th minute, Legon Cities leveled the score. Alex Aso scored from a header to make it 1-1.
Buoyed by the equalizer, Legon Cities pushed for the winner and came close to getting it in the 83rd minute, Fredrick Asare pulled off a good save to deny a header from Alex Aso from hitting the net.
Heading into the final minutes, Asante Kotoko had two good chances to take the lead, but Steven Mukwala and Richmond Lamptey fluffed their chances as the game ended 1-1.
