Karela United defeated Accra Hearts of Oak 3-0 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park.
The home side had decent start to the game and opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Emmanuel Owusu Boakye headed in a precise crossing from Mohammed Fatawu.
Minutes after going ahead, Karela United had the chance to double their lead but goalkeeper Richmond Ayi pulled off a good save to deny Emmanuel Owusu Boakye.
Karela continued to dominate the game and doubled their lead in the 32nd minute, Konadu Yiadom deflected a crossing from Mohammed Fatawu into his own net.
In the final minutes of the first half, Hearts of Oak were reduced to 10 men. Rashid Okine was sent off for a last man challenge.
At the start of the second half, Coach David Ocloo made changes to the Hearts of Oak team, bringing on Yakubu Zakari, Albert Eonde and Victor Aidoo for Isaac Mensah, Benjamin Yorker and Salifu Ibrahim.
In the 86th minute, Karela rounded up the game with a third goal, Richard Berko latched onto a loose ball and lobbed the ball over Richmond Ayi, 3-0.
At the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra Lions and Bechem United played a scoreless draw.
On Friday, Kotoku Royals defeated fellow strugglers King Faisal 4-2 to increase their chances of survival.
Francis Andy Kumi, Augustine Boakye, Richard Dzikoe and Paul Abanga scored for Kotoku Royals, while Godfred Asiamah and Abdul Latif scored for King Faisal.
The games will continue on Sunday, Asante Kotoko will host Medeama, Bibiani GoldStars welcome Samartex and so on.
