2022/23 GPL: Karela United pip Asante Kotoko to move out of the drop zone; Accra Lions devour Great Olympics: Gameweek 15 Results and Standings

Karela United defeated Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park to move out of the relegation zone.

The first half of the game saw no goals but wasn’t short of chances. Both teams came close to scoring but Asante Kotoko came the closest, Enoch Morrison struck the post with an effort from outside the box in the 24th minute.

Karela United broke the deadlock in the 59th minute, Samuel Attah Kumi scored the goal from a penalty kick.

The remaining minutes of the game saw both teams create chances but failed to put the ball at the back of the net as it ended 1-0.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra Lions defeated Great Olympics 3-0 to move into 3rd place. Lions opened the scoring in the 28th minute through Abass Samari Salifu, before Jacob Mensah scored in the 42nd and 51st minute to wrap up the win. Later in the game, Lions were reduced to 10 men, Jacob Mensah was shown a straight red.

In other results, Accra Hearts of Oak and Legon Cities played out a scoreless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In Dawu, Richard Danso scored for Aduana FC in the 6th minute and as well received a late red card in a 1-0 win against Dreams FC.

Kotoku Royals defeated Bibiani GoldStars 3-2 to record only their 3rd win of the season. Francis Andy Kumi scored a brace and Richard Dzikoe scored the other goal for Kotoku Royals. Ibrabim Laar and Abednego Tetteh scored for GoldStars.

At the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Samartex and Tamale City played out a scoreless draw.

In Kumasi, Medeama came from a goal down to beat King Faisal 3-2. Nurudeen Abdulai, Vincent Atingah and Kwasi Donsu scored for Medeama, while Abdul Latif and Joseph Gordon scored for King Faisal.

Nsoatreman bounced back to winning ways with a 2-1 win against Berekum Chelsea. Stephen Diyou and Kwabena Kalala Dannful scored for Nsoatreman in the 50th and 52nd minute respectively, before Mezack Afriyie scored for Chelsea in the 59th minute.

In Bechem, Bechem United thrashed Real Tamale United (RTU) 6-2. Bechem went 4-0 up in the first half through a goal from Isaiah Nyarko and a hattrick from Hafiz Konkoni. In the second half, Mohammed Sadat and Mustapha Fuseini reduced the deficit to 4-2, but Bechem United scored two goals later on through Clinton Doudu.
