2022/23 GPL: Hearts of Oak pick up historic win in Tarkwa

Hearts of Oak recorded a historic 1-0 win against Medeama at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa.

The Pbobians headed into the game in search of their first win at the ground since 2016 and didn’t look like getting it after the first 30 minutes of the game, the game was cagily contested and didn’t see many chances fall for either side, but Medeama came the closest to scoring.

Hearts of Oak started to dominate the game and broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute, Kwadwo Obeng Jnr the ball home after a melee in the box.

Medeama returned from the break a much improved side and gave Hearts of Oak problems in the opening minutes of the half. Kwadwo Amoako struck the post, while Nurudeen Abdulai failed to keep an header from close range.

The home side continued to dominate the game and created chances but failed to take them. Quayson Nana Banyin struck the post in the 66th minute and Goalkeeper Richmond Ayi made a strong save to deny Kwasi Donsu.

The pressure continued but Hearts of Oak stayed resilient to win 1-0

The win sends the Phobians level on points with league leaders Aduana on 24 points. For Medeama, they remain in 11th place with 17 points.
