2022/23 GPL: Bright day for Aduana against Hearts of Oak, Medeama edge 9-man Legon Cities, Lord Bawa saves Dreams in Bibiani: Gameweek One Results

Accra Hearts of Oak started the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League season with a 1-0 defeat to Aduana FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu II park in Dorma.

The first 45 minutes of the game saw no goals but wasn’t short of chances as both sides came close to scoring, Aduana had an effort cleared off the line and Bright Adjei missed a glorious chance in a one on one situation with goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi.

Hearts of Oak on the hand made some good incursions through debutant Yassan Ouatching and as well saw a ferocious effort from Dennis Korsah struck the post in the 43rd minute.

At the start of the second half, Hearts of Oak improved their display but were unfortunately caught at the other end as they found themselves a goal down after Bright Adjei connected with a pass from Sam Adams.

Hearts of Oak nearly hit back instantly but Suraj Seidu saw his effort from inside the box blocked by one of the defenders. Daniel Afriyie also saw an effort missed the post by inches.

In the final minutes of the game, Caleb Amankwah was shown a second yellow as Hearts of Oak went on to lose the game 1-0.

At the Aliu Mahama Stadium, Real Tamale United (RTU) played a scoreless draw with newly promoted Samartex. Goalkeeper Richard Baidoo saved a David Abagna penalty in the first half.

In Bibiani, Dana Blessing scored the only goal of the game to hand Dreams FC a 1-0 win against GoldStars. Goalkeeper Lord Bawa Martey was named man of the match as he was needed to make a number of good saves to protect Dreams’ lead.

Kotoku Royals in their debut game in the top flight league won 1-0 against Accra Lions at their newly adopted home ground, the Cape Coast Stadium. Augustine Boakye scored the only goal of the game in the 19th minute.

At El-Wak, Kofi Asmah scored the only goal of the game to earn Medeama a 1-0 win against 9-man Legon Cities. Michael Ampadu and Michel Otou were sent off for Legon Cities.

Samuel Attah Kumi scored in the 54th minute to earn Karela United a 1-0 home win against newly promoted Tamale City.

On Saturday, Samuel Ashie Quaye came off the bench to propel Great Olympics to a 1-0 win against Bechem United.

On Monday, Berekum Chelsea will host King Faisal at the Golden City park, while the game between league holders Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman has been postponed due to the Porcupine Warriors’ participation in the CAF Champions League.
