2022/23 GPL: Asante Kotoko rally from behind to down Samartex; RTU stun Chelsea in Berekum; Aduana pip Legon Cities: Gameweek 5 Results and Standings

Kumasi Asante Kotoko came from a goal down to beat new boys Samartex 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The first half of the game ended scoreless, Asante Kotoko dominated the half and came close to scoring through Justice Blay and Richard Boadu.

Samartex started the second half the better side and went ahead in the 49th minute, Prince Antwi struck a perfect shot from the edge of the box pass Ibrabim Danlad.

The Porcupine Warriors didn’t let the goal bog them down as they displayed a spiriting performance to get the equalizing goal in the 78th minute through Nicolas Mensah.

Asante Kotoko continued to pill pressure on Samartex and scored the winning goal in the 89th minute, Augustine Agyapong hammered in a free-kick from the edge of the box.

In Dormaa, Isaac Mintah struck in the 36th minute to propel Aduana FC to a 1-0 win against Legon Cities.

Enock Agblenyo scored the only goal of the game for Karela United in a 1-0 win against Bechem United at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) park.

Real Tamale United (RTU) recorded a historic 2-1 win against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City park. David Abagna and Rolland Frimpong scored for RTU, while Owusu Osei scored the face saving goal for Chelsea.

At the Duns Park in Bibiani, Gold Stars defeated King Faisal 2-1. Ibrabim Laar scored twice for Gold Stars in the first half, before Haruna Mohammed scored a penalty late in the game for King Faisal.

On Saturday, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored the only goal of the game to earn Accra Hearts of Oak a 1-0 win against Kotoku Royals at the Cape Coast Stadium.

In Accra, Accra Lions defeated Nsoatreman 2-0 to move top of the Premier League table. Lions opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Daniel Awuni, before Fredrick Asante doubled the score in the 41st minute.

On Friday, Dreams FC and Tamale City played out a pulsating scoreless draw at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

The final game of the round will see Accra Great Olympics host Medeama at the Accra Sports Stadium.
