2022/23 GPL: Accra Lions and Samartex share the spoils, Gold Stars pip RTU to go top momentarily

Accra Lions and Samartex 1996 played out a pulsating 1-1 draw at the Sogakope WAFA Park on the resumption of the betPawa Premier League after a month break due to the 2022 World Cup which took place in Qatar and was won by Argentina.

Samartex started the game the better side and went ahead after just 11 minutes into the game, Ibrabim Giyasu struck to give them the lead.

Accra Lions stepped their performance up and found the equalizing goal in the 40th minute, Hagan Frimpong headed in a crossing from David Oduro.

In the second half of the game, both sides pushed bodies forward for the winner but to no avail as it ended 1-1.

At the Duns park in Bibiani, Gold Stars defeated Real Tamale United (RTU) 1-0 to go top of the Premier League table momentarily. Ibrabim Laar scored the only goal of the game in the first half.

The games will continue tomorrow, Nsoatreman will welcome giants Accra Hearts of Oak to the Nana Kronmansah Park and Great Olympics play Aduana FC in Sogakope.

On Wednesday, holders Asante Kotoko play Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Bechem United host Tamale City, Dreams wrestle with King Faisal.

At the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park, Karela United face bitterest rivals Medeama and Kotoku Royals welcome Legon Cities to the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
