The 2022/23 betPawa Premier League season got underway over the weekend with games taking place across 8 match centers. The game between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman was postponed due to Kotoko’s involvement in the CAF Champions League.

In the games played, Bright Adjei scored the only goal of the game to earn Aduana FC a 1-0 win against Hearts of Oak. Dreams FC picked a surprise 1-0 win against Gold Stars in Bibiani. Kotoku Royals earn a 1-0 win against Accra Lions in their maiden Premier League game and so on.

Goalkeeper: Lord Bawa Martey – Dreams FC

Hardest pick to make considering a number of good performances displayed by goalkeepers in the first week. However, Lord Bawa Martey is our our pick. The debutant made a number of good saves to deny Gold Stars, he in the process picked up the man of the match award.

Right-back: Godfred Poku Wakii – Aduana FC

A debut everyone could dream of, youngster Godfred Poku was like a Thorne in the flesh of the Hearts of Oak team throughout the game. He was named man of the match.

Center-Back: Abdul Jalilu – Dreams FC

Emmanuel Keyekeh was sublime in midfield for Samartex in their scoreless draw against RTU. He gave the defense proper cover and was the link between the attack and the defense.

Midfield: Awuah Dramani – Berekum Chelsea

Awuah Dramani grabbed a goal and provided an assist in Berekum Chelsea’s 2-0 home against King Faisal. He was as well named man of the match.

Midfield: Mezack Afriyie – Berekum Chelsea

Mezack Afriyie was fantastic in Chelsea’s win against King Faisal. He scored the opening goal and provided the assist for the second goal.

Forward: Bright Adjei – Aduana FC

Bright Adjei picked up from where he left off last season by scoring the only goal of the game for Aduana in a 1-0 win against Accra Hearts of Oak.

Forward: Augustine Boakye – Kotoku Royals

Augustine Boakye wrote his name in the history books of Kotoku Royals as the player to score the team’s first goal in their debut Premier League game, a feat which earns him a place in our team of the week.

Forward: Samuel Attah Kumi – Karela United

Samuel Attah Kumi scored the only goal of the game to earn Karela a 1-0 win against new boys Tamale City. He was as well named man of the match.

Player of the week: Awuah Dramani – Berekum Chelsea

A goal, an assist and a man of the match award makes Berekum Chelsea new boy Awuah Dramani makes him our player of the week.

Coach of the week: Ignatius Osei-Fosu

Ignatius Osei Fosu led Dreams FC to a famous 1-0 win against Bibiani Gold Stars, making him our coach of the week.
