The 2022/23 betPawa Premier League will kickoff this weekend despite AshantiGold’s injunction, the General Secretary of Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo has revealed.

Following the demotion of AshantiGold to the Division Two league after the club was found guilty of match manipulation in the final game of the 2020/21 Premier League season against Inter Allies, the club dragged the Ghana FA to court for what was termed as “unlawful demotion”.

On Thursday, the club secured an order from an High Court in Accra to put an injunction on the Premier League which was scheduled to kickoff this weekend.

Nevertheless, the General Secretary of the FA has downplayed the reports, insisting that the league will kickoff as planned.

“The betpawa Ghana Premier league is starting this weekend and the clubs are fully prepared for the league”

“And I can assure every Ghanaian that the GFA has done the needful for a successful new season”, he told Light FM.

The 2022/23 betPawa Premier League season will kickoff on Saturday, September 10, with Accra Great Olympics hosting Bechem United.

The games will continue on Sunday and on Monday. The game between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman has been postponed due to the club’s involvement in the preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
