2021/22 GPL: Yaw Annor continues fine form as hat-trick heroes Frank Etouga and Bright Adjei lead the attack: Gameweek 17 Team of the week

Another weekend of Premier League action, one which wasn’t short of upsets and contentious decisions.

Asante Kotoko bounced back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory against Accra Lions. Hearts of Oak were held to a scoreless draw by Real Tamale United (RTU). Dreams FC defeated Medeama 1-0 in Tarkwa and so on.

Here is MahamaShaibu.com’s Premier League team of the week:

1. Goalkeeper: Augustine Koomson – Dreams FC

Augustine Koomson made a number of good saves to ensure that Dreams FC ended the first round on a high, beating Medeama 1-0. The clean sheet which earned him the man of the match award was Dreams FC’s first this season.

2. Center-back: Augustine Agyapong – Asante Kotoko

Augustine Agyapong was solid defensively and in attack for Asante Kotoko as they strolled to a 3-1 victory against Accra Lions. He provided the assist for his team’s third goal.

3. Center-back: Solomon Adomako – Great Olympics

Marshalled the defensive perfectly as Great Olympics recorded a 1-0 home victory against Elmina Sharks. He was named man of the match.

4. Center-back: Andrews Ntim Manu – Legon Cities

Ntim Manu was like a rock in defense for Legon Cities. He was alert to deal with any dangerous ball from the opponents, a display which earned him the man of the match award.

5. Right midfield: Simba Sylvester – Dreams FC

Simba scored the only goal of the game as Dreams FC recorded a historic 1-0 victory against Medeama. He as well helped out defensively when his team needed to protect their lead.

6. Central midfield: Umar Bashiru – Karela United

Protected the defense perfectly and dictated the pace of the game in Karela’s 1-0 victory against WAFA. He was named man of the match.

7. Right midfield: Yaw Annor – AshantiGold

Yaw Annor continued his decent form in recent weeks by scoring a brace. However, his side was unable to pick all three points. He was named player of the match.

8. Attacking midfield: Augustine Frimpong – Real Tamale United (RTU)

Augustine Frimpong was like a Thorne in the flesh of the Hearts of Oak defense, his pace made things difficult for the Phobians. He was named man of the match.

9. Forward: Kofi Owusu – Berekum Chelsea

Scored his side’s goal in a 1-1 draw against the red hot Bechem United. He was named man of the match for his performance.

10. Forward: Frank Etouga – Asante Kotoko

Scored his second hat-trick of the season to help Asante Kotoko beat Accra Lions 3-1. A performance which as well earned him the man of the match award.

11. Forward: Bright Adjei – Aduana FC

Bright Adjei was nearly unplayable in Aduana’s 3-0 win against Eleven Wonders. He scored a hat-trick and was named man of the match.

Player of the week: Frank Etouga – Asante Kotoko

A hat-trick and a man of the match award for Frank Etouga against Accra Lions makes him our player of the week.

Coach of the week: Karim Zito – Dreams FC

Stepped in to replace Vladislav Viric who was relieved off duties days ago and didn’t disappoint. Karim Zito led Dreams to a historic 1-0 victory against Medeama. A feat which makes him our coach of the week.

Team of the week: Dreams FC

Dreams FC is our team of the week. The Still Believe lads worked their socks off to beat Medeama 1-0 in Tarkwa.
